A second instalment to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has actually been leaked by a well known US retail chain Target, thanks to an online blunder that still needs to fixed. Named Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, this sequel will see the raunchy protagonist Talion and his sixth sense ghost buddy Celebrimbor coming together once again to give Mordor another crack. And according to the Target description, you’ll “go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within“. And in case there was any doubt, the one of a kind Nemesis system will also be making its return, creating “unique personal stories with every enemy and follower“.
This little bit of the description that I particularly loved was the one about “confronting the full power of Sauron and the Ringwraiths” in this game. This bit suggests encounters with the Big Eye himself and his annoying chums, rather than just an everlasting procession of increasingly powerful orcs and and the feared uruk-hai.
Along with the primary game, its ‘gold’ edition has also been leaked, which will apparently be containing two story expansions with a whole new campaign, new playable character, distinct abilities, side missions and even more. There will also be two ‘nemesis’ system-based expansions that’ll be included as part of the gold edition, which will whack in a new orc tribe, a fortress, and other bits and pieces. On the PS4 and Xbox One, the standard edition will set you back a standard amount, $60, while the gold one will be retailing for a good $100.
There’s been no mention of a PC version in this leak, but seeing as the original game released on PC as well as consoles, it seems to be a rather safe bet. And according to Target, Shadow of War will be launching on August 22. It is once again being developed by Monolith who did a wonderful job on the first game, and being published by Warner Bros, a representative of whom is without a doubt typing one hell of a furious email right about now.
