While a majority of smartphone giants will debut their smartphone designs at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, LG has announced the X Power2 prior to the event. It seems like the Korean giant wants to divert all attention to the grand unveiling of their flagship device — LG G6 on February 26. As for the X Power2, it packs a 4500mAh battery that can be charged from 0-100 percent in just 2 hours, claims LG.
Though the highlight of this phone is its huge battery, it also features a 5.5-inch HD display (1280 x 720), a 1.5GHz octa-core processor and runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The X Power2 will be available in two RAM variants– 1.5GB and 2GB and will support 16GB of storage along with extended capacity 2TB (via microSD cards). The phone will be launched under a broad colour palette including options — Black Titan, Shiny Titan, Shiny Gold, and Shiny Blue.
Speaking on the launch, Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said,
The LG X power2 has the most powerful battery capacity in LG’s entire smartphone line-up so users can enjoy many hours of multimedia entertainment on its roomy display without worrying about recharging,The entire X series is all about great technology and great value, both important features for today’s discerning smartphone customer.
As for the camera specs, LG X Power2 offers a 13MP rear unit and a 5MP front shooter. The rear camera also sports a soft LED flash for amazing capture quality. Keeping in mind the selfie trend, the camera app enhances functionality using face detection, automatic clicks etc.
The phone sports dual SIM feature and is provided with all connectivity features such as Wi-Fi (802.11 b, g, n), Bluetooth 4.2, and USB 2.0. LG X Power2 will be displayed at the company’s booth at the phone fiesta and will roll out in beginning of March. The smartphone will commence business from Latin America followed by key markets in United States, Asia, Europe and other regions. The pricing is only expected to be announced at the time of availability, but it is said to be a budget smartphone.
According to LG, a fully charged LG X Power2 can playback videos continuously for about 15 hours, provide navigational directions for about 14 hours and enable web surfing for around 18 hours. The device weighs 164 grams and measures 154.7×78.1×8.4mm. It is yet to be seen if LG will be first third-party hardware maker to brings in Google Assistant integration.
