If you are into animation, there is a very strong probability that you are into Pixar. Disney’s animation studio is one of the biggest storytellers out there and it is now attempting to distribute its genius for spellbinding narratives out among the masses. The studio has partnered up with Khan academy and is offering a free course in narration.

The Pixar In A Box series of lessons takes you into the world of bewitching, spell bounding stories and the people who create them. From what we have gathered, Director Pete Docter (Inside Out and Up), Brave director Mark Andrews, Inside Out story artist Domee Shi, and Ratatouille animator Sanjay Patel have all come on-board and shared several important pointers to would be storytellers.

The lessons are pretty interactive and involve audio, video and different types of activities to help you bring your character to life.  While this particular installment of lessons focus on giving you a sound base and will teach you things like setting and character, the next lessons along the series will take you through character creation, storyboarding, emotional appeal and so on and so forth.

This is not the first time that Pixar has joined hands with Khan Academy. The two partnered up to offer courses on a range of topics like virtual cameras, effects and animations. However, Pixar appears to be wanting to round-off aspirants with a healthy dose of storytelling — which is of course, the most important ingredient of them all.
