With media invites being sent out for an event to be held on 19th January in New Delhi, it is reportedly being said that Xiaomi may launch the much-awaited Redmi Note 4 at the occasion. After the widely appreciated Redmi Note 3 release in India, consumers have their eyes on the smartphone since its launch in China in August’16.

The phone feature a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a 2.5D curved glass covering. It is powered by a ten-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. On the camera front, the phone is equipped with a 13-MP rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. The 5-MP front camera with an 85-degree wide angle lens will help satisfy your selfie needs.

Moreover, the Dual-SIM phone runs MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and sporting a 4,100mAh battery. The version of device launched in China included a metal clad body and deca-core SoC, however, it is possible that the company may change it for the country. It may introduce phones with Qualcomm processors in India as MediaTek processor phones are not allowed in the country due to a patent dispute with Ericsson.

The phone was previously launched in two variants — one with 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of onboard storage (approx. Rs. 9000) while the other one was launched with 3GB of RAM with internal storage of 64GB (approx. Rs. 12,000). A blue color variant is also expected to be added to the phone’s color scheme — already offering Gold, Grey, and Silver options. The smartphone also sports a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel of the device alongside an expandable storage via microSD card of up to 128GB.

Recently, the company has also launched a Mi Explorers Challenge wherein the company will allow tech enthusiasts to test their devices for feedback and faults. The same strategy was previously applied by the company before releasing its Redmi Note 3. Though the company has not yet revealed any details on what to expect from the upcoming event, it just could be Redmi Note 4 for India.
