Microsoft decided to induce a change in its highest ranks with the appointment of Anant Maheshwari as the President for India operations in August last year. He was said to take charge of his new responsibilities at the tech behemoth from 1 January but he is being inducted into his role of handling sales, marketing and services operations in the country.

Maheshwari is taking over the reins of operations from Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik, who’ll continue to serve at Microsoft until 31st March 2017. In his new role, he will now be responsible for helping the Redmond giant lead India’s digital revolution by empowering individuals, partners and entrepreneurs. He will also be guiding the company to become the primary service provider in this mobile-first, cloud-first era.

Post his appointment as the President, Maheshwari has shed some light on his vision for the growth of the company’s operations in the video attached below. In the same, he starts off by saying that Microsoft sees its partners at the core of its business model and going forward they’ll value these partners more to scale their opportunities in the country. He further mentions that Microsoft will continue to act as a partner to provide you go-to-market support.

Also, talking about the tech-driven innovation fabric that binds us all, he says,

Digital India is such a unique opportunity for India to leapfrog areas which have not seen the third and second industrial revolution and go straight to the fourth industrial revolution. It’s a great enabler for India. Given our investments in the country, we are uniquely positioned to make ‘Digital India.’ While we can do all of the solutioning, we need that entrepreneurship of partners..and there’s so much to do. And I’d say that we’d need the partners to do it all.

Prior to joining Microsoft, he was employed at Honeywell for a decade and was taking care of its India operations as the President. He was responsible for conceptualizing and setting up Honeywell’s security operations and the growth of three strategic business groups, namely Aerospace, Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), and Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT). He holds a bachelor degree in electrical and electronics engineering a master’s degree in economics from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani.
