With Xiaomi claiming the first spot to enter the American market with its Android-powered TV box, Chinese smartphone maker ‘LeEco’ is now finally making its way to the west as well. It has forayed into the U.S market with two smartphones — Le Pro3, successor to its flagship smartphone LeMax 2 and a mid-tier smartphone called Le S3.
The Le Pro3 is priced at $399 and will be available for purchase on November 2. If you buy it directly from LeMall, you get an instant discount of $100, making the effective price a mere $299. On the other hand, the Le S3 is priced at $249. With discount applied, it will cost $149.
Interestingly, the Le Pro3 smartphone has been introduced in the US, even before launching the phone in India. After China, India is the biggest market for these smartphone manufacturers.
LeEco Le Pro3
The phone comes with a 5.5 inch full-HD IPS LCD display with a 73.8% screen to body ratio. It is powered by one of the latest Qualcomm chipset — Snapdragon 821. The processor comes with native VR support, providing a seamless performance with company’s own LeVR headset.
The phone has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The company also has a variant with more memory – 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage. But this higher memory variant has neither been launched in US nor the company has announced any such plans for the future.
As for the camera, the device features a 16 MP primary autofocus camera with PDAF sensor and dual-tone LED flash, along with an 8 MP selfie unit. The rear camera supports 4K 2160p video recording as well as slow motion recording. On the back, just below the camera module, the company has placed a fingerprint scanner. Ensuing a good media experience, LeEco has packed dual stereo speakers onto the Le Pro3 with Dolby Atmos certification.
The device comes with NFC, infrared port and USB Type C. It is powered by a big 4070mAh battery that supports Quick Charging 3.0. As of connectivity features, the phone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.
The LeEco Le Pro3 comes in two color options, including Gold and Grey. Along with company’s own LeMall store, the phone will also be available on other e-commerce platform via flash sales.
LeEco Le S3
The Le S3 is essentially a modified version of the Le 2 smartphone that is currently available in India and China. The metal unibody smartphone sports a 5.5 inch Full HD display, with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor that comes with the Cortex A72 cores. The processor is coupled with 32GB of internal storage and 3GB RAM.
It packs a 16 MP f/2.0 rear camera with PDAF sensor and dual tone dual LED Flash. There is also an 8 MP f/2.2 selfie snapper. Just like Le Pro3, below the rear camera, there is a fingerprint sensor which can be used for taking photos.
The phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery which comes with support for Quick Charging. As per the company, the Le S3 goes from 0 to 50% in just 30 mins. The LeEco S3 runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with the company’s own LeUI 5.8 on top. The phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, it comes with a proprietary CDLA headphone that connects using the Type-C port.
LeEco has priced the Le S3 at $249, but with the $100 discount, the effective price becomes $149. It will be retailing in the US via the LeMall. The smartphone will be in three colours – Rose Gold, Grey and Gold, and will go on flash sale on 2nd November.
Apart from these two smartphone, LeEco also launched its Super4 X Series TV range and uMax 85 inch ecoTVs. Further, the company unveiled its LeSEE Pro Electric Car as well.
