SHEROES, an online career platform developed specifically for women, has announced the acquisition of an online love, relationship, and sexual health counselling service called LoveDoctor.in. Financial details related to the deal remain undisclosed.
Avani Parekh, founder and CEO of LoveDoctor, will now be joining SHEROES as Director of Community and Empathy. She will be working with a goal of making SHEROES a one stop shop for women around the world to build their careers, find a supportive community, level up their skill sets, and explore new possibilities for their lives beyond the workday.
Furthermore, she will divert her focus to build the career helpline #AskMonica, and create a seamless platform where women can get any type of counseling and guidance in an empathetic, expert manner.
During the transition period, LoveDoctor.in, which has been in operations since last two years, will continue to provide its usual counseling via WhatsApp and email. It claims to have answered over 50,000 questions from people aged 16-25.
Commenting on this acquisition, SHEROES founder Sairee Chahal, said,
SHEROES already has a strong community and has become a reference point for all things women and careers. Having LoveDoctor on board will help us strengthen the relationship with community, by offering them deeper support and connect. It is a good time to put women’s needs and aspirations on nation building map.
While going about their work and life, women also need to navigate several other issues and having LoveDoctor become part of the SHEROES family will help them address those needs. SHEROES already offers mentoring and career helpline support to its community and this acqusition will integrate with those efforts — and expedite it further for better results.
Avani Parekh, on the other hand, is also excited about the partnership and says,
Joining forces with SHEROES allows LoveDoctor to bring essential counseling to hundreds of thousands of women. I hope that through this merger women feel safe, supported, and heard every single day through our counseling and other support channels. No one should feel alone. While the men have always used Lovedoctor.in frequently, we know that women have questions about love, relationships and sex too – but are shy, scared, or fear retaliation if they ask.
Founded in January 2014 by Sairee Chahal, SHEROES acts as a platform for jobs and career community for women. It focuses on career options including work from home jobs, part time jobs, partnerships, starts-ups, etc. for women. She claims it to be the largest professional forum for women in the world.
Recently, the company had raised around $1.8 million in Series A round of funding. Prior to that, it had raised $750k in its angel funding round.
