Lenovo recently announced a new 6.8-inch phablet at the IFA named the Lenovo Phab Plus. The device had already been announced in China, which seems to be the targeted market for it, a few days ago. The Chinese firm says that this tablet is for the people who want to use their tablets as phones but currently need to carry two devices. The tech giant believes that the Phab Plus is the best in both genres.

While the specs of the phone cum tablet are commendable (we’ll discuss them in a bit), the most obvious thing you will observe about Lenovo’s ‘masterpiece’ is that it is a clean rip off of the iPhone 6. While Lenovo might be able to get off the hook because of the huge change in the form factor of the device, it still doesn’t change the fact that this device is an almost clone of last year’s iteration of the iPhone.

From the camera placement to the rounded corners, from the back panel design to the screen layout, this phablet is a blatant rip off of Apple’s flagship smartphone. To take things to the next level, the phone is available in three colours: titanium silver, champagne gold and gunmetal grey. Ring a bell? The iPhone 6 was available in silver, gold and space gray. Yepp.

The phone also has the same unibody design, slippery form and plastic ticks for the antennae as its apparent guru. The only difference that you might note after much scrutiny is that the front glass isn’t curved on the edges like on the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.

Lenovo’s Phab Plus comes with a Snapdragon 615 octa-core system on a chip with 2GB of RAM. You also get 32GB of internal storage. The phone supports dual-SIM and boasts a 6.8-inch HD display. The rear camera sensor is 13-megapixel while you get a 5-megapixel front shooter with a front flash. It comes in with Android 5.0 Lollipop on-board.

The phablet is scheduled to hit the markets in the US (and hopefully worldwide) by the end of this month. It will be available for $299, off contract.
