PlayStation Network is currently experiencing a temporary outage and many gamers are unable to login to the service. The same has been expressed by gamers across social media platforms and Sony too has confirmed the same.

While the issue regarding logging in to the mainframe network seems to have been resolved, an issue with the PlayStation Store continues to exist, with Sony putting up the following note on its status website :

Affected Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4

Affected Services: You may be experiencing issues related to features on PlayStation®Store. We appreciate your patience while we address this.

Status: Saturday, May 16th 2015 8:00 am PDT

Before this temporary store outage, PSN was reportedly down in its entirety, with a login issue not allowing gamers to log in to multiplayer battles like Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare. It was also not allowing gamers to connect single player games to third party servers.

Sony had also updated its , which says “you may be experiencing issues related to signing in or creating an account on PlayStation Network.”

Downtime on PSN has been making gamers pretty nervous, ever since the network experienced a massive five-day outbreak during christmas. That was the result of a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) by a group of cyber-attackers known as Lizard Squad. The same “Lizard Squad” had shut down Xbox too and is again claiming responsibility for the current outage.

We’ll continue to update this story with fresh info as we receive.
