Google had earlier announced, during the Android One launch, that it plans to launch the YouTube offline feature sometime soon. Delivering good on its promise, it has now officially announced the launch of Youtube offline in India.
Youtube Offline allows users to download the video and watch it even when the user is not online. However, the company has announced that the video will only be available for 48 hours.
A download button is available under the video, which once pressed, prompts users to download the video in two qualities – standard and high definition. The size for the video is also displayed along the quality so that users can determine the data usage and store space before downloading the video.
The video content is available from some popular entertainment and music companies like T-Series, Saregama and Yashraj Films. Making these popular videos available for offline playback will help people enjoy a smooth buffer-free version of their favorite content.
Google also announced that it plans to keep finding “better ways” to make video content more “affordable and accessible” to our growing base of YouTube mobile users in India
