Its Official! Apple has finally taken off the curtains from its hotly anticipated iPhone 6. At the special media event held at Flint Center today, Apple unvieled iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus the 4.7″ and 5.5″ variants respectively.

We had been waiting for this moment for the entire year. No more rumors, Apple has finally unveiled the new iPhone. Here is a quick run down of specs:

The new iPhone 6 sports a 4.7″ Retina HD screen with a resolution of 1334 x 750 which gives us a decent 326 PPI. The iPhone6 Plus features a larger, 5.5 inch Retina HD display, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution giving you a staggering 400 PPI ! The trend in iPhone6 is reverse. While larger models of various phones loose out on PPI, the iPhone6 Plus is in an all-together differnet league, as far as PPI is concerned.

Although the new iPhones pack in more power, they are surprisingly thinner and lighter, as compared to their predecessor. Apple has kept the same, trademark, glass display and metal body, with those lovely looking bezels.

The new iPhones feature a 64 Bit Architecture A8 Chip with a M8 co-processor. The M8 is actually the 2nd generation of M7 motion processor, which we saw in the iPhone 5 earlier. Tim Cook, at the event today, claimed that the new processor is 50% more energy efficient than the A7 chip. It is also 30% lesser in design, as compared to the A7.

As far as graphics processing is concerned, Apple has never let anyone down. And this time too, the graphics processor is 50% times faster than the one in iPhone5 or 5S. Also, the internal storage has been remarkably improved, with the introduction of the 128 GB model.

The new iPhones feature the same protruding camera, as leaked by various Feld and Volk photos earlier. Apple has now included a faster focus technology. Now, in addition to its large 1.5-micron pixels and ƒ/2.2 aperture, the world’s most popular camera is packed with new technologies like Focus Pixels. The front camera has numerous new sensors, to improvise the face detection. Both the cameras feature HD recording at 1080 P at a staggering 60 Frames per second, with a sl-mo recording of 240 FPS.

The connectivity features on the iPhone have been tremendously improved. The new Wi-Fi features 3x faster speeds and the phones support the largest bands of LTE, most by any current smartphone.

Lastly, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus come with iOS8, the first devices to feature the new OS. iOS 8 will be available for other Apple devices by September 17. The pricing for the new iPhones is stated below :

  • iPhone 6 16 GB – $199, 64 GB – $299, 128 GB – $399
  • iPhone 6 Plus 16  GB – $299, 64 GB – $399, 128 GB – $499

The new iPhones will be available in the US from September 19th, and will be available in 115 countries in the world, by the end of this year. Stay Tuned for a Hands On soon.

UPDATE :
