While details of the new model are yet to be revealed, Motorola Canada has tweeted that the company will announce a new phone on June 1 in the country. The company has not revealed anything more than the date, not even the time or the slightest hint about the new model!

But, based on recent leaks, there have been speculations made as to which the model could be. Current bets are on the Moto Z2 Play or the duo of Moto G5s and G5S Plus.

The Moto Z2 Play will have a 3,000 mAh Battery, with a 5.5 inch 1080p display, a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of native storage, and a 12 MP rear camera with dual auto-focus. More specs and leaked pictures were mentioned in a post on Android Authority.

In comparison, the G5S and G5S Plus will have 1080p panels and either Qualcomm’s 630 or 66o processor. Both of these models are expected to have different RAM and storage but with expandable memory.

Motorola has kept in line with its vision — budget-friendly, high-quality phones with these two models, with premium aluminium designs, fingerprint sensors, as well as improved software, all falling within the budget. A few days ago, leaked pictures of the new Moto G5S which showed the model will be available in three colors– grey, gold, and blue.

The G5S Plus is expected to look extremely similar to the G5S. The primary differences between the two models are color variations offered and the camera sensors. The G5S Plus is expected to be available in full gold and gray, as well as white face/silver back and white face/gold back variants. Additionally, it will be fitted with a dual camera setup on the back, making it the first Motorola device with this feature.

All three phones– Moto Z2 Play, Moto G5S, and Moto G5S Plus– are expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat. Motorola recently also announced the Moto C and Moto C Plus to be made available in emerging countries in the coming weeks. The C, however, will not be available in the United States as it is an ultra-low budget device.
