Google announced on Monday, that its globally launched Nest Mini smart speaker has now been launched in India. The Nest Mini was launched along with Pixel 4 in October this year. The Nest Mini starts at ₹4,499 and is available — obviously — exclusively on Flipkart.

To look at changes, both the hardware and the software get good tweaks. In terms of hardware, small changes include a hook for easy wall-mounting, and a new power connector port and cable. The rest of the design is similar, with the familiar microphone slider switch and lights under the fabric top cover remaining on the newer device. The Nest Mini also has these LED lights, that will light up as your hand gets close to the device, indicating where you can tap to adjust the volume.

Software front is where things have turned out much better, largely due to a new machine learning chip (and the optimum use of it). Nest Mini provides bass that’s twice as strong as the original Google Home Mini (measured from 60-100 Hz at max volume). It features the company’s proprietary audio tuning software, allowing users to get the most out of the hardware with a full, clear and natural sound at every volume level.

The Nest Mini will take on the similarly priced Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) which uses the Alexa voice assistant and Amazon’s ecosystem of smart connectivity.
