HMD Glonal MWC 2019

Last year, at the Mobile World Congress, HMD Global had announced five phones, including a feature phone — Nokia 8110 4G. Now, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer has confirmed through Twitter that the company will be present at this year’s MWC as well.

The event is scheduled on 24th February in Barcelona, Spain. While the company has not revealed which smartphones it plans to launch at the MWC 2019 next month in Barcelona, it is expected to launch Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 6.2, among others.

The Nokia 9 PureView is expected to be the first smartphone from the company to feature five rear cameras accompanied with PureView, Zeiss solution. It will also have ‘Light’ technology for better low-light photography performance. There could also be a 5G compatible variant of the same device, but it’s not confirmed yet.

The phone could feature a 5.99-inch QHD PureDisplay with HDR10 support and in-display fingerprint sensor for added security. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will ship with Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box.

Along with the Nokia 9 PureView, the company could also announce the Nokia 6.2, which has been in the news since quite some time. As per the reports, the Nokia 6.2 is a slightly tweaked version of the Nokia 8.1 Plus. It could come with a 6.2-inch display and the Snapdragon 632 SoC with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. For optics, the phone is tipped to feature 16MP+16MP dual rear cameras from Zeiss.

Other than these two smartphones, there’s a possibility that the Finland-based HMD Global could launch some other mid-range smartphones aimed at different markets. To know for sure, we’ll have to wait until the official launch event on 24th February.
