Over the past few years, Amazon has accrued many complaints from harassed parents who said that the hundreds of dollars spent using their accounts in buying all sorts of ridiculous stuff — including in game goodies, were made by their kids. Well, you are now likely to start receiving refunds for the same.

Amazon’s security standards regarding in-app purchases wasn’t particularly great only a few years ago. This came to the fore when people started complaining that their kids were making purchases using their accounts. Now I suppose an argument could be made that they should be guarding their accounts better, however, a portion of the blame does lie with Amazon as well. The FTC certainly felt so and it the company to task as well.

Well now, Amazon has finally started the process of issuing refunds to concerned parents. The company has a full fledged system for concerned parents to submit their complaints. And it has now started issuing e-mails to those whose complaints have been accepted and it will soon start refunding them as well.

So yeah, if you were affected by the issue and had submitted a complaint — check your mail. Failing that, you can also check the Message Center in your Amazon account. And wait for the tinkle of coins as money comes back to your accounts.
