Google, Google Cloud

Want to make GIFs? Well, you really should give Google’s new tool a try. Google’s News Lab has launched a brand new tool that though aimed towards journalist, allow anyone to come up with their own GIFs, as long as they have some interesting data that can pique user interest.

There are a couple of issues though, as creating GIFs through this tool does require a fair bit of manual effort. And of course, there is the fact that you don’t really get something out of the world. The GIFs churned out through this tool are pretty basic and are more suited to comparing stats between two different things than anything else.

We typically use the tool to represent competing search interest, but it can show whatever you want it to—polling numbers, sales figures, movie ratings, etc.

To create a GIF using the tool, simply visit its page (link in first paragraph), pick two different topics, enter all the data, write whatever else you want your users to see on the screen and voila! The GIF will be churned out in a while.
