Biz Stone, who co-founded Twitter and then left it in 2011 to pursue other interests, has announced that he is making a comeback. Stone made the proclamation through Medium and also published a tweet to the effect on Twitter.
I just published “What’s Happening with Me” https://t.co/GVXdpO8VYd

Biz will not be replacing anyone at the company. Indeed, his new role appears to be more of a mentor than anything else. In the Medium post, Stone says that most of his energies will be spent towards guiding the company culture and ensuring that it translates outside Twitter as well.
Biz said:
It’s important that everyone understands the whole story of Twitter and each of our roles in that story. I’ll shape the experience internally so it’s also felt outside the company .
The shift comes a month after Biz sold his latest startup Jelly. Although Pinterest purchased it — meaning that there could have been opportunities for Biz there in a new role — the Twitter co-founder said that he wasn’t required to stay on with Pinterest and as such was open and available for new opportunities.
The Twitter offer could actually have been sprung upon Stone. He was attending an employee only event at Twitter as a special guest. While he was on stage, founder Jack Dorsey asked him if he wanted to come back to the company he helped start. Well, bringing Jack Dorsey back certainly seems to have worked in Twitter’s favor. Who know, bringing yet another co-founder back just might help the company do even better.
Meanwhile, Twitter reacted well to the news. Stock jumped up by 2 percent to reach a three month high of $19.62.
