SpaceX has managed to successfully launch a Falcon 9 rocket. The rocket in question was carrying a heavy payload in form of a satellite from Inmarsat. The company has been making use of SpaceX’s services to create a network for satellites that would together power high speed Internet for the world. This launch however, was special as it saw Falcon 9 lift its heaviest payload till date.

The launch was actually suppose to take place with a Falcon Heavy. However, since the company has not brought those into commercial flights yet, it decided to go with a regular Falcon. The rocket’s top payload delivery capability was improved and the rocket was set to the task. Also, judging by the extremely difficult nature of the job, hopes of recovering the first stage were abandoned.

The launch took place from SpaceX’s LC-39A complex at Kennedy in Florida and went off without a hitch. The launch has been to place the satellite into space alongside three of its peers. It is hoped that latest satellite will increase the load handling capacity and bring succor if one of the three satellites was having trouble.

The satellite isn’t quite in its new home yet but we will let you now when it moves out into it. Stay Tuned!
