Motorola, the Lenovo-owned company recently launched fifth-generation of its budget smartphones — Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Now, the company has also released the kernel source codes for both of these devices.
The company has just released the kernel source code for the Moto G5 on. It also released kernel source code for the G5 Plus a couple of days ago. This means custom ROMs can now be more readily developed for both devices. It is now available on GitHub for anyone and everyone to access.
Other than developing custom ROMs, the kernel source can have several other uses, but mostly for Android developers. It can now be used by them to optimize their mobile apps for use on the Moto G5 Plus and G5 smartphones.
Kernel can be described as the heart of an operating system. It is that part of the code which does process management, memory management (RAM, ROM) as well as hardware management.
