Funcom’s upcoming highly anticipated survival open-world sandbox adventure title Conan Exiles is due to release this month by January 31. And when it finally lands, it’ll land with full mod support.
As has been detailed in an official post on the game’s site, mod developers will soon be given the capability to download a custom Unreal Engine editing software and in turn will be able to craft new monsters, weapons and an entire host of other gameplay adjustments thanks to modding tools. A mod management tool will also connect to the Steam Workshop, allowing players and modders access to these created mods with the push of a button.
Creative Director Joel Bylos stated:
The great thing about these games is that you can play them however you want, you can easily set up a server and play with your friends, and with our in-game controls you can simply adjust all aspects of your play experience to suit your playstyle whether that is turning off thirst, spawning a huge monster, or stop the day/night cycle. If you want to play all by yourself locally, you have access to the very same controls.
Included in the above linked post you can check out, Funcom has explained Conan Exiles’ server information, as was noted by Bylos above—where players can actually set up their own dedicated servers, or rent them via the dev’s official partner, PingPerfect.
Running your very own server grants you access to a “powerful server control system” which will allow you to “alter many aspects of the play experience.” This might just mean toggling PvP on or off, for example, or even disabling sandstorms, going as far as tweaking the game’s day/night cycle or activating god mode, among a plethora of other features.
