Has Facebook started resurfacing your quirky old photos on the timeline and News Feed? Well, if yes then you’re most likely not the only one facing this bizarre problem. A lot of users on the interwebs are complaining about being plagued with a similar issue, which is floating months old photos of people on the social media platform.
The said glitch with the social platform seems to be picking up random old user posts and resharing them with a current timestamp on their own wall or even on other people’s timelines. This leads to the removal of all reactions and comments on the older posts and it is shared as if the content (image) has been uploaded just recently. Also, some people are experiencing issues with their friend list as well.
But that’s not even the biggest problem. The biggest headache is that the posts are being shared without any user permission. This is making a lot of people weary of the situation and they are venting out their frustration on the one place which accepts all internet drama – Twitter.
Weird Facebook bug. A bunch of my old pics got reposted. Hmmm.

Deactivated my Facebook because it decided to repost about 30 old posts without my permission. Staying away until I know it’s safe #dramatic

@BBC_HaveYourSay Facebook posted 50 random old pics on timeline (even deleted ones) & added/removed friends! Seems related “2016 in Review”

Users have reported the same to Facebook through their community help pages, stating that several of their older photos have been posted to their timeline. And they’re not sure if their profile has been hacked or affected by an unknown glitch. Some users mention that they only noticed the reposted statuses after updating their mobile app or watching the ‘Year in Review’ video.
Facebook has acknowledged that an unknown bug is affecting the platform at the moment and they are working to resolve the issue. Also, the spokesperson states,
We are aware of this and are investigating.
This glitch in the social platform follows pursuit to a recent issue which led to Facebook pronouncing millions of its members dead. It had posted ‘memorial’ statuses for these profiles and was asking friends and family visiting the profile to offer their condolences. This included the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg as well.
We’ve contacted Facebook and will update you once the glitch is fixed.
