TalentNext, an entertainment tech portal which connects artists to recruiters, has today secured around $1 million in its seed funding round. The current round was led by Karanpal Singh, Managing Director at KJS Cement, while a few other angel investors have also participated.

These newly raised funds will give boost to the expansion plans of the company. It is planning to expand to other regions in the next few weeks.

Founded by Shekhar Purohit, TalentNext is a verified recruitment portal for the Indian entertainment industry, connecting film and production houses to a variety of talents online. The platform came into existence in July 2016, and is focusing on providing recruitment within television, advertising, films and digital content.

It connects actors/models, dancers, musicians, voiceovers, etc. to the casting community for films, televisions shows, commercial ad films, live events, theatre (performing arts) and other formats of entertainment.

As per the founder, the company has partnered with over 30 casting directors in Mumbai and has partnerships with industry players including Dharma Productions, OML and Balaji Telefilms.

On the platform, once the casting professionals list an audition or job, they are able to manage applications and browse through talents profiles online. Users can sign up for free and create a basic profile on the platform.

Apart from the free plan, there’s also a paid plan allows for unlimited access to auditions, jobs, higher level of status on the trending or verified profile, and additional storage for photos, videos, and audio files to the profile.

Shekhar Purohit, founder of TalentNext, said,

There maybe a singer or an actor based out of Dharamsala that wants to get noticed and has no access. These individuals can get on to TalentNext while creating their profiles they can upload a YouTube video, a Soundcloud audio clip and reach out to casting directors in real time for anything from films to television shows and web series.

The Mumbai-based startup, which is currently on a cost-free model, claims that it receives more than 250 sign ups through Facebook on a daily basis and posts over 50 jobs every day.
