Taking a perfect jab at most hardware manufacturers, Google launched a spectacular set of Pixel smartphones, a comfy VR headset, and a smart-home speaker earlier last month. And now the Mountain View-based tech behemoth seems to be having a gala time, coming up with even more in-house hardware innovations.
Google has today surprised us with the launch of yet another innovation — a whiteboard — as part of its recently revamped G Suite offering. This whiteboard which has been dubbed as ‘Jamboard’ is no ordinary piece of tech — how can it be when Google develops it!?
The Google Jamboard is a 55-inch 4K touchscreen computer which was born out of the desire for an intuitive and real-time collaboration platform which connects to the cloud and Google business apps seamlessly. This whiteboard has been designed to connect enterprise personnel(in real-life or real-time) for idea collaboration and impromptu team discussions. The team can also take notes and use it to globally broadcast their work via Hangouts.
Google Jamboard could prove to be an important asset for brainstorming sessions in conference rooms, hallways, or wherever you wish to gather with your team. Being just a single cable setup, the whiteboard can be easily wheeled and setup to capture the creativity of the teams. You also don’t have to worry about your data as it saves your work and syncs instantly with Google Drive.

It runs on a heavily forked version of Android that features an in-built browser, Google Maps, and other stock apps. The company is expected to open the same to third-party developers in the near future. The corporate team can access the Google Jamboard in real life or via smartphone or tablet using companion apps for iOS and Android. No word on Windows support as of yet.
The super crisp 55-inch 4K touchscreen features a fairly intuitive interface with best-in-class touch response time and precision drawing. The Jamboard also brings with it the much-needed built-in HD camera, speakers, Bluetooth standard USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It also comes in tow with a stylus for sketching (writing) and an eraser to scrap old ideas and start over. The highlight of these additional accessories is that they do not require any batteries or pairing to work with the display.
There is currently no information about whom Google has tapped for the manufacturing of this monstrous hardware device. But, it has been closely working with a handful of G Suite customers including Netflix, and Spotify to test out, tweak and elevate the corporate boardroom experience. It has also partnered with BenQ to tap into its network of channels and resellers to help market the Jamboard.
Google Jamboard has been launched in competition to Microsoft’s massive Surface Hub, the only difference being the operating system and its arsenal of apps. This humongous whiteboard will cost you under $6,000 and is expected to be available for purchase in 2017.
