The second installment of the sci-fi alien invasion based game wont be arriving as soon as we thought it would be. In the Aftermath of the success of the first game, second’s reveal stirred up quite some excitement and impatience in all of us. But it seems like we may have to wait a little longer. The next gen strategy-based console game will be released around 3 weeks after the originally planned release of September 6th on the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Delaying release dates seems to be in trend now a days in the industry. It seems to be happening on a regular basis and with a lot of games. Which begs the question, why even state a release date when the product is clearly not prepared?

Take-Two president Karl Slatoff made the announcement as part of the company’s quarterly earnings call. He said that the three-week delay was made in order to “ensure the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team’s high standards.” He added that 2K and Firaxis Games will continue to support the PC version with free and paid DLC after XCOM 2’s console launch.

XCOM 2’s new PS4 and Xbox One release date is September 27 in North America. It releases internationally on September 30. The console versions offer a number of improvements, for example, You’ll take control of the Avenger alien ship as your mobile headquarters, start many missions without the enemy being aware of you, and face new enemies that will make you reconsider that vow not to reload your save when you lose a unit you love. and new features that weren’t present when the game launched on PC. Mod support for consoles has not been announced.

Game critic Mike Mahardy added his two-pence on the subject matter and said,

XCOM 2 imparts the weight of those decisions, and that’s what makes it extraordinary. It’s mathematical, emotional, and thoughtful all at once. It’s exhilarating, even in the face of failure. It’s compelling, even though we often lose. Victory is the goal, but that’s just an afterthought here–it’s the complex journey that counts.
