Apple is reporting some encouraging numbers,a s far as adoption rates for iOS 9 are concerned. The Cupertino giant says, that its latest iteration for iOS, iOS 9 has already been downloaded to over 50% of all iOS 9 eligible devices. That is the fastest for an y iOS version released till date.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement,
iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history,
This is obvious though, considering that Apple owners have a knack of regularly upgrading devices each year, hence increasing the number of devices running the latest OS dramatically.
The news however, is good for Apple, considering the huge amount of flak it garnered for a rather buggy iOS 8 release, all throughout. In fact many had argued, that even the stable, public release of iOS 8 has had issues, which have only been corrected in iOS 9. Moreover, several reports have already touted iOS 9 as the most stable iOS version released till date.
Ever since Android became the more dominant force in smartphone OS market, Apple has been marketing the fact that iOS provides a more unifying experience as almost all Apple device owners immediately upgrade to the latest release. This also helps developers to deliver a more unison experience to all users alike, unlike Android where devices are still running Froyo, and adoption rates for even Kitkat are not even close to older versions like JellyBean etc.
Although iOS 9 is not a radical departure in terms of design and features, it does after some new twists. These include upgrades to Siri, a new search screen, and split-screen multi-tasking for the iPad.
Apple further confirmed, that iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will go on sale starting 8:00 AM (US Time) today.
