Starting with an online community for food lovers and turning into a whole-sole marketing platform for food and lifestyle brands, Food Talk India, has now secured a seed investment of $500K from a private investor to continue with its marketing platform.

With fresh capital coming in, the company is going to launch its product, Food Talk Plus – A hyper-local dish discovery mobile application. It has also hired Himanshu Vaishnav of Airocorp — an artificial intelligence company, as their Chief Technology Officer.

Founded in 2013 by Shuchir Suri and Anjali Batra, Food Talk India was started as an exclusive invite-only Social Food Forum on Facebook. Currently, the community has over 50,000 members and has grown to become a key influencer in the digital food space. It claims to have over 400,000 followers on its all social media profiles combined, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

It curates a series of innovative food events at exclusive venues or restaurants across the country to bring people together to celebrate and interact on India’s most loved creation by the almighty — Food !  Food Talk India says, that each of its events are hand-crafted and customized with a special theme, an innovative concept and an elaborate menu.

The company has evolved from social community of food lovers and has become a technology and data sciences company with an in-house tech team. It has recently signed a deal with Star World and Star World HD to be their exclusive digital partner for the MasterChef Australia Season 7 series in India.

Shuchir Suri, CEO and founder of Digital Food Talk Pvt Ltd., said,

We have bootstrapped and worked on creating this product for the last year after extensively studying our audience and demographic. This investment will help us launch the Food Talk Plus mobile application in a big way, by strengthening our core with an in-house tech team and creation of a comprehensive marketing plan.

And wait ! Come this December, Food Talk India is teaming up with one of India’s largest production and entertainment companies to curate a one of a kind food and lifestyle festival.
