If one has even the slightest bit of knowledge about India’s startup ecosystem right now, it would be easy to say that Hyperlocal Delivery space is the north star for investors right now. And jumping into the bandwagon, after piloting its app for over a month, is Ola, with the launch of Ola Store
We reported about Ola Store earlier. The app is now available on Google Play Store for Android users while the Apple fanatics will have to wait a bit longer to access it.
Ola Store is currently operating in Bangalore only. It is offering more than 12,000 products across 13 different product categories including vegetables, fruits, grocery, household, health care, baby products, etc.
There is no minimum order value for ordering from the portal but the company is charging Rs. 30 on orders for delivery if the order value is less than Rs. 250. Deliveries are made from 9 AM to 10 PM everyday.
As for the delivery, it is offering two modes – instant delivery which is done within 90 minutes, and one-hour slots as per your convenience. For payments, it supports Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking and Cash on Delivery along with Ola Money.
Ola Store will compete against companies such as Grofers, Bigbasket, ZopNow, PepperTap, etc., whose core-domain is hyperlocal delivery, unlike Ola which is currently operating this as a side business. Startups like Grofers have established themselves in the market, and have raised hefty capital to rise as market leaders.
