Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, which is also continuing to reel under the pressure of its own balance sheet and competition from others, is said to be launching its upcoming smartphone in the ‘Note’ series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on 12th August.
Recently, there were reports that the company may pre-pone the launch of Note 5 in order to avoid a clash with Apple’s iPhone launch (which in Samsung’s case, is such a right thing to do). So, this report about the launch date of the phone makes sense.
As per the report, which has appeared on Digitimes, the Galaxy Note 5 will be launched on 12th August at an event in New York and will be available in select markets from August 14th.
Typically, the Note series smartphone are launched in the month of September. But, to take on Apple, which also launches new model of its phone in September, Samsung has decided to bring forward the launch, and provide some much needed breathing space to its flagship device.
A separate report from the generally reliable Sammobile also suggests, that along with Note 5, the much rumored iPhone 6 Plus-like nomenclated smartphone of the company — Galaxy S6 Edge+ will also be taking stage.
However, contrary to the report of DigiTimes about the availability of the phone, the report of Sammobile claims that both phones – Note 5 and S6 Edge+ will go on sale from 21st August. Along with the launch of its two new smartphone, the company will also announce the launch of Samsung Pay in US.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch to 5.89-inch display, Exynos 7422 chipset and a 4,100mAh battery. It is said that the phone will measure just 7.9mm in thickness. It will be the first smartphone from Samsung to have 4GB of RAM.
Earlier, it was claimed to come with a USB 3.1 Type-C port. If this comes out to be true, then it will be able to transfer files with up to 10Gbps speeds. The phone will not have a microSD card slot and will have thin bezels around screen.
As for Galaxy S6 Edge+, the phone will have curved display on both sides and will be powered by a Exynos 7420 chipset instead of Snapdragon 808 with 3GB of RAM.
The August launch for Note 5 and its other devices and services may sound too early but given the number of leaks related to the devices and reports about its early launch, there is very high probability that the launch may actually happen in August.
Anyways, we’ll come to know, and we’ll obviously let you know.
