If you are someone who prefers Google Slides over Powerpoint for your presentations, there is good news for you. You no longer need to used long extensive chords to get your presentation on the big screen. Android Police recently discovered that in a future update, Slides will allow you to beam your info for all to see to a Chromecast from an Android device.

On desktop systems, you can already leverage Google’s diminutive dongle for presentations with the help of Google Cast Chrome extension.

You can turn the app into a remote control of sorts, once you select the streaming accessory. It also offers you a timer to let you know how long you’ve been on the current slide. Additionally, it displays a thumbnail of the current slide and also provides previews of the previous and the next slide in the queue.

The update hasn’t yet been made mainstream but if you are someone who doesn’t like to wait, you can grab the APK and enjoy the features right away.

Once installed, you won’t immediately see a ‘cast’ icon. However, once you start making a new presentation or edit an existing one, you’ll see the ‘cast’ icon making an appearance.

Tapping the icon will bring up a menu, instead of a pop-up, that lists which Chromecasts you might stream your slides to.

That’s almost it. Once you have connected your desired Chromecast device, your smartphone or tablet will almost immediately start working like a remote control for your presentations. You can also save your google slides offline in chromecast which is the big advantage. A timer keeps track of how much time you’ve spent on any one screen.

After proper teardown, Android Police says that the APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way.

However, with only the APK being bundled, we are not quite sure if this feature will be available for the iOS version of Slides.
