Yes, finally we are getting the much demanded transit directionS features in the Apple Maps. The new update will come along iOS 9 and you can hence stop complaining about the same.

Yes, it’s transit,

Apple’s Craig Federighi declared while announcing other iOS9 features on stage at the WWDC today  in San Francisco.

This announcement falls exactly in line with previous reports by 9to5 Mac and other media outlets which reported that Apple maps will finally get the much needed live transit direction feature. More so, a recent patent by Apple also hinted towards the same.

Federighi mentioned that Apple has indeed gone into great details to get the feature as accurate as possible. He notes, for example, that footprints on a metro station are mapped accurately so as to provide you with the best possible and most convenient entrance.

Federighi also noted that Apple Maps is already serving 5 billion user requests a week and is seeing 3.5 times as much usage as other mapping maps on iOS.

To enhance its mapping tech, Apple had acquired two startups, HopStop and Embark back in 2013.

As for availability, the transit directions feature will roll-out in a few selected locations in the U.S., China and London in Europe.
