Apple has done what iPhone fanatics had hoped it would a long time ago – it has finally come up with a lightning dock for you to charge your iPhones. The dock is compatible with all iPhone models starting from 5 to 6 and 6 Plus.

The new dock retails for $40 via the U.S. Apple Store (prices vary by country) and is pretty much standard in design. It features a rounded rectangular white plastic base and a male lighting port coming up alone. You can simply place your iPhone over the connector and align iPhone’s lightning connector with the one present on the standalone device.

The new dock design also makes the design usable with future iPhone versions, as phones now just need to be placed over the dock. The overall build could also support even the heaviest of devices and is a well balanced act from Apple.

The Lightning Dock has two ports at the back, one for Lightning to support charging and data connectivity, and one 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to support audio out.

The mentioned connector could also work with iPhone’s audio functions like Play and Pause. As mentioned before, the dock retails for $40 and can be purchased via Apple Store.
