Dailymotion, the online video sharing service provider has jumped into live-game streaming market (read it as twitch market) with the launch of Dailymotion Games. The service will directly compete against Amazon’s Twitch (See, told ya !).

According to Dailymotion, its new platform will provide a way for everyone to broadcast their play live to fans (read it as twitching), from casual gamers to e-sports celebrities. But the bigger question is, why a dedicated channel for the same ? Well, DailyMotion claims that gaming videos currently generate 180 million video views every month and draws 11 million unique visitors every month to its network, and that’s pretty much the reason why DailyMotion Games has come up.

For streamers, there is the ability to live stream, a “dedicated control panel” which lets user control stream, and options for monetizasion through “user-controlled video advertisements.” Viewers can search for streams, view recommendations, filter things. Users will also be able to chat to each other.

The apps for Dailymotion Games is available for iOS and Android. The users of PS4 will also be able to watch the live streams. Its list of partners at the time of launch includes Eclypsia, Millenium, joinDOTA, OnGameNet, IGN, JeuxVideo.com, Gamespot and Gamekult.

Martin Rogard, Dailymotion’s Chief Operating Officer, said in a statement,

Dailymotion Games is entirely dedicated to eSports fans and streamers who come together every evening to form an amazingly talented and gregarious community. Over the coming months, we will significantly increase our investment in the eSport domain to ensure worldwide recognition of all our talented content producers.

Twitch will be the biggest competition for Dailymotion given that the company now has the massive resources of Amazon behind it. Dailymotion will also have to handle things like VODs and copyrighted music.
