Earlier this week, we saw the teaser from LG unveiling its circular Smartwear , the G Watch R , and now the company has officially made it official ahead of the its IFA launch.
LG G Watch R comes running Android Wear through which user can connect it to any Android v4.3+ smartphone. As the R letter in the name kindly suggests, the screen is a 1.3″ fully circular Plastic OLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels.
It comes with interchangeable 22mm straps, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage and a 410mAh battery. It is available only in black. It’s also rated IP67 for water resistance (up to one meter of water for thirty minutes), just like the last one was. However, there’s two new features: It comes with a heart rate monitor underneath and what appears to be a power button on the side.
“What we’ve noticed in the year of the wearable is that this is a category that can’t be compared to smartphones and tablets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Wearables are also accessories and consumers will want more than one to choose from. So we wanted to complement the modern design of the original G Watch with the classic look of the G Watch R. Customers can’t go wrong with either device.”
