SkillLane, a Bangkok-based edtech startup, has received an undisclosed amount of funding from the CEO of Tao Kae Noi, the Thai snack giant.

Itthipat Peeradechapan, the CEO, pumped money into SkillLane along with Tao Kae Noi’s director Nutchatpong Peeradechapan.

The startup launched in July 2014, specializes in self-paced e-learning space and operates on revenue sharing model. The courses on its platform enable the young professionals to learn and develop practical skills in a plethora of fields, ranging from photography to business management.

SkillLane began working with instructors to design courses, their respective content material, working on the name to the target audience and the entailing curriculum. It had been targeting individual clients but with the freshly funds it is all set to explore the B2B segment of the edtech domain.

SkillLane is working on introducing online training programs for corporate clients. It has already soft-launched the B2B program and plans to fully launch it in Q2 2017. Also, other than the plans to venture into the B2B segment, it aims to increase the number of courses on its platform and introduce new product lines for its B2C users.

In the official press release, SkillLane’s CEO Titipong Pisitwuttinan states,

With the fast-changing global trends, companies should encourage their people to improve themselves and obtain new knowledge in order to help drive the organisations forward. Conventional offline training may no longer be adequate because of time constraints.

He adds this is the reason SkillLane creates up-to-date online courses from which the companies can select courses for their employees. The employees, then, can learn from the courses anywhere and anytime according to their convenience.

Earlier, in July 2016, the EdTech startup had partnered with Microsoft Thailand to expand online course offerings for SMEs. It claims to have over 10,000 students enrolled its courses so far and had also received investment from 500 TukTuks.
