Consumer electronics giant Samsung, has existed in the Laptops space for a while now. But the company has repeatedly failed to penetrate the market like it did with smartphones and Televisions. The South KOrean behemoth however, is at yet another attempt to change that with their latest flagship – Samsung Notebook 9 Pro (2019).
Unveiled at CES 2019, the Samsung Notebook 9 worked on some of the majot shortcomings of its previous generattion model. The device now sports a sturdy aluminum body, with extremely boxy edges, and a unique ridged-design, giving the laptop a professional look.
The changes to the laptop aren’t just skin deep. The laptop is powered by the latest, Whiskeylake Intel Core i7-8565U, Intel UHD 620 graphics, 256 GB of Solid State storage and 8 GB of RAM (can be upgraded). The device also ditched a higher resolution display for a 13.3″ 1080p one in order to improve its battery life. A 55 Whr battery to be specific, which Samsung claims would give “up to 15hrs” of life on a single charge. While the display is surrounded by really slimmed down bezels on the sides and top, it has an unusually large chin at the bottom.
The 360 degrees hinge, the S Pen, and an acceptable 1.4 kg weight are expected to make for a pleasant 2 in 1 experience.
The company also transitioned to a completely USB type-c equipped laptop. The Notebook 9 has 3 USB type-c ports, two of which are Thunderbolt 3 ports, a micro SD card slot (a full-sized SD card slot would’ve been nicer), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Samsung hasn’t divulged any pricing information yet. However, they mentioned it would go on sales early this year. Also, we still do not know if this model will make its way to India or not.
But with the right pricing and proper marketing, this feature-packed laptop has a shot at becoming one of the top professional laptops in the market.
