Coolpad Cool Play 8

Coolpad has launched its new smartphone, dubbed Cool Play 8, which is the successor of the Cool Play 7C. The phone is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,300) and is now available for pre-orders through online retailer JD.com. The smartphone, which comes in two color options — Streamer Ash (Black) and Bright Red, will start shipping from 21st December.

The phone features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ InCell IPS TFT LCD display with 1080 x 2246 pixels screen resolution that comes with a notch on top, in line with the current trend. Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz powering the device.

It packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for expandable storage up to 64GB. For imaging, it sports a dual rear camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor. There’s also an 8-megapixel sensor at the front to capture selfies.

For security, there’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as a Face Unlock feature. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, FM radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Running on Android Oreo OS out-of-the-box, it packs a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.

While the phone will start shipping in China from 21st, there’s no information available regarding the smartphone’s availability outside China. However, we are expecting the company to bring the device to the Indian market.
