Smartphone manufacturers are obsessed with providing you the largest of screen-to-body ratio. Such obsessions often lead to experimentation — experimentation such as the ‘notch’, the ‘waterdrop’ or the new talk-of-the-town, ‘dewdrop’ notch. Samsung just unveiled different notch designs — Infinity-U, Infinity-V, and Infinity-O, which it plans to experiment with its upcoming devices. Among the three designs, the Infinity-O design seems something unique given that it has a punch-hole design.
Now today, Huawei has shared an image teaser on Chinese social media network Weibo, announcing a smartphone launch next month. The outline of a smartphone in the poster showcases a full-screen phone with a virtually bezel-less display.
What’s interesting is that to offer such design, the company seems to have opted for a punch-hole type notch in the top-left corner. The text that goes with the poster reads: “Make a heavy ‘point’ and see you in December.”
The smartphone design seems very much similar to what we’ve been seeing since past couple of weeks from Samsung design patents. The latest announcement from Huawei comes at a time when rumors are making rounds that Samsung is soon going to launch a smartphone with Infinity-O type notch.
An upcoming smartphone from Asus, the Asus Zenfone 6, which is the successor of the Zenfone 5 launched in India last year, is also coming with a ‘punch-hole’ display.
Currently, nothing more related to the smartphone is known, except for the fact that the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer will announce the phone next month.
