Ola launched its Ola Pass in October last year. This pass allowed riders to ride all Ola Share rides at a flat price for a certain number of kilometres. Following along the same lines, Uber has now introduced its UberPass feature in a few cities in the country as a pilot– Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata.

The cost of the pass varies from one city to the next but seems to offer the same set of promotions for users availing the pass. The exclusive product features that will be available are highly rated drivers, discounted fares, and a waiver on the cancellation charges. There is also the possibility that riders will be able to avail flat fares on UberGO rides as well.

Shailesh Sawlani, the General Manager for West, Uber India said,

We are always thinking of new ways to enhance the Uber experience for our riders. UberPASS is one such product designed to offer riders using our service for their daily commute, a seamless and consistent ride experience. We are excited to launch UberPASS as a pilot for riders in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata and if our riders give us a thumbs up, we will take this to riders in other cities as well

Select users from each city will be sent an email from Uber and will then be able to avail these special features, as well as promotions associated with an UberPass. Apparently, this option is not yet visible in Mumbai and Delhi.

Before being launched in India, UberPass was a feature in six US cities — Miami, Boston, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington DC in August 2016. The main aim of this service was to allow potential riders to compare prices with other modes of transport such as the subway and make an informed decision.

According to an Uber employee, the UberPass in the States allows customers to ride at flat prices for UberPool and UberX. But in India, it is still unclear as to how the feature will work.

If you’ve been able to access the UberPass feature, do let us know more about it in the comments section below!
