Earlier this week, Nokia launched its Android-based smartphones in the Indian market — Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. As the company said earlier, the Nokia 3 smartphone is now available for purchase via offline stores across the nation.

Nokia has enjoyed the loyal customers base in India and hoping to attract those customers with its offline sales strategy. In line with this strategy, Nokia had announced that the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones will be exclusively available via offline stores. On the other hand, the higher-end variant of the three — Nokia 6, will be available exclusively via Amazon India.

With promise of purest and secure Android experience, along with reliable after-sales services, the company is hoping to make its mark in the price-competitive budget Android smartphones market in the country.

Ajey Mehta, India Vice President for HMD Global, said to Digit:

Our channel strategy is a function of who the target consumer is, what is the value proposition we are delivering and what is the price point. So we start with the consumer, what does the consumer want, where does the consumer shop. We felt the Nokia 6 would have a far better chance and opportunity in online and 5 & 3 would have a greater opportunity in offline.

Nokia 3 is the cheapest of the three new Android smartphones by HMD Global, with a price tag of ₹9,499. Vodafone customers will get 5GB data per month at ₹149 per month for 3 months on purchase of Nokia 3, as well as vouchers for ₹2500 off on travel website Makemytrip.com.

It has a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and features 8-megapixel camera on both the front and back. It packs a 2,650 mAh non-removable Li-ion battery.

The company is said to have roped in over 400 offline distributors to make the two smartphones available in over 80,000 retails stores. Nokia 3 will be available across offline stores from June 16, while the Nokia 5 will be up for pre-bookings from July 7.
