Elon Musk will be leaving all of President Donald Trump’s councils if the US exits the Paris climate accords — as it likely will. Musk tweeted the same in response to a follower’s question on Twitter, stating that he will be have no choice but to leave all of the councils he is currently service the US president in.
Will have no choice but to depart councils in that case.
Elon Musk is a staunch supporter of president Trump’s advisory council. He is a part of the current US administration’s economic and manufacturing advisory councils and accompanies some of the biggest names from the silicon valley. Indeed, Musk didn’t leave the council even when the immigration issues came to the fore. His reasoning at that time was that, he will be able to influence the US president’s thinking and influence it for the better.
Now though, if the US does leave the Paris climate accords, the decision will be final and there will not be a question of influencing the president’s thinking anymore. So that may be part of why the Tesla CEO, who is known to be proponent of renewable energy and other such efforts, has decided to leave all these councils.
Musk had attempted to reason with Donald Trump over the Paris climate accords. He had even said that he was “cautiously optimistic” regarding the same. Regarding the rumors that have been swirling around though, it appears as if the US will indeed leave the Paris climate accords. And in that case, President Trump might well lose one of his advisers.
