Flipkart, India’s one of the largest online marketplace, has been ranked as the ‘most sought-after workplace in India’ by LinkedIn, according to their 2017 Top Companies list for India. This is the second time Flipkart has topped the list.

Earlier, Flipkart topped this list in 2016, making this the second year in a row that the 10-year-old e-commerce startup has been crowned as India’s most preferred choice of workplace for professionals.

Commenting on this recognition, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart, said,

We are thrilled to be the most sought-after company to work for in India for the second year in a row. I would attribute this primarily to the super-exciting work that we do here. We have an extremely open and empowering culture that places full trust in our employees. We are dedicated to build this culture of growth and to fuel our commitment to constantly innovate, disrupt and build India’s global technology powerhouse.

Others in the top 10 of LinkedIn India’s most sought-after employers list include One97 Communications at the fourth place, Ola (5th), HCL Technologies (6th), Adobe (7th), Alphabet (8th), OYO Rooms (9th) and Reliance Industries at the 10th place.

The LinkedIn list is determined by a combination of LinkedIn data and an editorial lens. It hinges heavily on the actual behavior of more than 467 million+ professionals on LinkedIn, focused on four core areas: Reach, Engagement, Job Interest, and New Hire Staying Power.

Irfan Abdulla, Director, Talent Solutions & Learning Solutions, LinkedIn India, said,

India Inc is thriving, backed by an increasing business friendly sentiment and a positive economic trajectory. Understanding the pulse of a younger employee base, enterprises in India are working to build an ethos that drives performance and also delivers a rich workplace experience.

LinkedIn, in their Top Companies list, says that “Flipkart has become synonymous with Indian e-commerce”. It also highlights some of the sought-after employee benefits that Flipkart offers its employees, like time off — where employees can take a career break to pursue higher education, personal engagements, etc. It also gives personal welcome, where on their first day at office, employees are picked up by chauffeur-driven cars and sent on a treasure hunt to familiarize themselves with the office.

Flipkart has a dynamic and open work culture that the company says is for progressive employee benefits, diversity initiatives and workplace equality. The company places considerable emphasis on creating an inclusive work environment.

Flipsters, as Flipkart employees are called by the company, are encouraged to break silos and innovate. Ownership, respect and customer-first are the building blocks of Flipkart’s DNA, believes the company. Besides inspiring and driving Flipkart employees, these values unite Flipsters and empower them with a strong sense of belonging.
