Apple’s has reportedly finished filming its upcoming series “Planet of the apps”. The series, which describes the journey of — you guessed it — apps and the developers who actually dedicate so many hours in making them, was being shot that Apple had built specifically for the shooting.
According to Macrumors, which cites an anonymous source who was involved with the filming process, the Cupertino giant built the set near Hollywood and dismantled it after the filming was concluded.
Apple built the set and tore it down at the conclusion of filming. The set was absolutely beautiful and set up in a way like no other competition show I’ve seen before. It’s very tech chic, with beautiful decor and decorations. Only Apple could do it this way. It’s very, very well done. Steve Jobs would have been proud of the set.
The series has been produced by some pretty well known names, including the likes of Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, and William Adams. Considering that the source described the shooting as a “very stressful but exhilarating process”, the show is probably involves more than a bunch of developers being questioned over coffee.
Apple first put out word that it was looking for developers to participate in the show, back in July last year. Out of the 100,000 apps that applied for the show, only 100 were actually selected. The lucky 100 were then given opportunities to meet and discuss their apps with four influencers, namely: Gary Vaynerchuk, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, and will.i.am (William Adams). The show is also said to have a “very famous” host but we weren’t able to glean the name of this person.
Meanwhile, developers who have made it to the final round of the show will be eligible to receive up to $10 million in funding! What’s more, Apple will also feature their applications on the App Store once the show goes live. This is in keeping with the show’s description as an accelerator and launchpad of apps residing on Apple’s different ecosystems.
Meanwhile, let’s see when Apple finally starts airing the series. Assuming that the shooting for the show has actually concluded, we can expect the company to come out with it soon.
