Are you one of those individuals who likes to take a ride to the nearby lake on a sunny day in hopes of a big catch? Well, you might be in luck as technological advancements have now extended its roots into recreational fishing as well. You might not only be able to pick up a correct spot or bait the fishes with Sonar but also record them in 4K as well.

PowerVision, a robotics company that gained appreciation for its PowerEgg quadcopter drone at the previous CES is now back with another innovative product. Launched at CES 2017, the company’s latest drone swims under water and has been designed to find and lure your next catch easily using technology.

This PowerRay robot has the ability to dive as deep as 30 meters (or 98 feet) underwater and detect fishes swimming around it using its add-on Fishfinder component. This sonar system enables the robot to detect aquatic lifeforms in the range of up to 40 meters (or 131 feet) below its own body. This Fishfinder, which is also available for use as a standalone device, emits a blue light to bring the fishes into view. This along with the robot leads to a total diving depth of a reasonable 70 meters (or 230 feet) with precision up to 10 centimetres.

The most integral component of the robot is the integrated 4K UHD camera that will provide you with a view of the underwater life in real-time using the PowerRay mobile app for iOS and Android. The live feed is transmitted to the smartphone using the Wi-Fi module which is embedded in the robot. The companion app further enables you to access travel mode, speed and light setting, and also operate the camera functions. This will come in handy for those interested in underwater photography and videography.

Speaking on the launch of the underwater robot, Wally Zheng, CEO of PowerVision Technology Group, says,

By introducing PowerRay, PowerVision is completely changing the way we have been fishing in the past 7,000 years. Through innovating the fish finding technology and features, providing the thrill of finding the catch and an immersive underwater experience through virtual reality, PowerRay is going to provide more efficiency, thrill, and fun to fishermen around the world.

In addition, the company is also launching another accessory for the PowerRay underwater robot – a remotely operated precision bait drop. It can be attached to the top of the robot, which can then be used to deliver the bait precisely to the desired location. You can then monitor and control the entire capturing experience in real-time using the companion mobile app.

To make the viewing experience more intuitive and fun, PowerRay intros supports for wearable devices and PowerVision VR Goggle along with the robot. The VR headset will enable you to tilt your head in any direction to control the robot and move it in the required direction to navigate it underwater.

The PowerRay underwater robot will be available for pre-order starting 27th February, 2017. The pricing details for this robot are yet to be announced but they’re expected to be on the higher side compared to quadcopters or drones.
