Lenovo’s seems to be getting serious with its plans for the gaming line-up. In line with this, at CES 2017, the Chinese giant has launched a new sub-brand for its gaming hardware — Lenovo Legion. Under the same series, Lenovo has launched two new laptops — Y520 and Y720.

Both laptops, the Y520 and Y720 feature up to seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processors, with Nvidia’s 10-series graphics cards, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and either a 512GB SSD or a 2TB hard drive. The dispaly size on both the devices is 15.6-inch.

With VR gaining mainstream attention, and is said to be the biggest trend for 2017, Lenovo made sure it is not loosing out. So, in addition to being powerful, the Y720 model is also capable of pumping a virtual reality headset, thanks to the Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB graphics card. Just plug a VR headset into the HDMI port and you’re set for immersive gaming.

As of the display, the devices comes with a full HD 1080p resolution. However, there is an option which allows you to upgrade to a 4K resolution display, but that is only for Y720 model. The Y720 model packs a built-in Xbox One wireless controller receiver and has a keyboard with RGB backlighting.

The Y520 model does not come with RGB backlit keyboard, but has a only single color illumination. The devices comes with USB 3.0 and a USB Type-C/Thunderbolt 3 port, the fastest port available on a PC today to plug and play.

The Legion Y720 is also touted as the “World’s first Dolby Atmos PC”. However, it only applies to headphone-based Atmos. Further, it has dual two-watt JBL speakers.

On the battery side, the Y520 has just a 45 Wh battery, which seems very small for a gaming notebook, and the battery on Y720 can be bumped up to 60 Wh. Both models are fairly thin, with the Y720 at 1.14-inches and the Y520 at 1.01-inches.

The Lenovo Legion Y720 will be available in April for a starting price of $1400, and the Y520 will be available from February for a starting price of just $900.
