Chromebooks are getting popular day by day and so is their adaptation. That has also led to most laptop makers having launched their Chromebooks — a cheaper alternative to Windows laptops. While ASUS — one of the firsts in the market — already has Chromebook Flip in the market, the company is going to launch ASUS C302CA – a premium Chromebook soon.
With CES not far away, the latest ASUS Chromebook has been outed through a listing on Newegg. The rumors related to the device first started in June and was leaked in mid-October through FCC filing. It was believed that this device would be the followup to the ASUS Chromebook Flip. However, it turns out that it is not a follow-up to Chromebook Flip and the ASUS C302CA is its own device with its own place in the Chromebook ecosystem.
This new ASUS Chromebook C302CA features a larger 12.5-inch, 1080p screen, and is powered by Intel’s Core M3 processor instead of the budget Rockchip part you saw in the Flip. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB. If the in-built storage isn’t enough, you can also expand the storage. While such specs make it a premium device, but not at the level of Chromebook Pixel or HP Chromebook 13.
The device is said to be carrying a more refined version of the Flip’s all-metal design. It includes two USB-C ports and a microSD card reader. Compared to Flip, this one is heavier, but given the increased display size and just 0.5-inch thickness, that is justified. An interesting feature on the device is that it comes with a backlit keyboard, which is very useful for those who work in the dark.
The Newegg listing of the Chromebook C302CA laptop suggests price of $499 C302CA. While the device has not been officially announced yet, there is very high chances that it will get launched at the CES, and is likely to confirm specs as well as the possibility of different configurations.
