Right on time, Ubisoft’s 2012 action game and fifth instalment in the Assassins creed series, Assassin’s Creed III is currently completely free to purchase for PC. You can go and get it right now through Ubisoft’s Uplay service as part of the company’s celebration for being in existence for 30 years and making Assassin’s Creed games for almost one third of those.

This will be the last game that Ubisoft gives away for free through the promotion, which started off back in June. The previous free games were as follows:

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (June)
  • Splinter Cell (July)
  • Rayman Origins (August)
  • The Crew (September)
  • Beyond Good & Evil (October)
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (November)

Although this awfully nice giveaway promotion is coming to an end, another one has already started to take its place. Ubisoft has decided to be the Santa for gamers this year by giving away games and goodies for 30 days of Christmas.

Assassin’s Creed III is chronologically set after Assassins Creed Revelations during the American Revolution and follows the story of the new character, Connor. One of the game’s expansions made starred a maniacal super villain version of America’s well known founding father, George Washington.

As for reception, the game was reviewed spectacularly by multiple reviewing platforms. one of the mentions included the following:

Assassin’s Creed III is a big game that gives you a lot to do, some of which is fleshed out relatively well, and some of which isn’t. It is not, however, content to rest on the series’ laurels. It takes chances with its opening, with its story, and with its characters. It expands the series’ gameplay in enjoyable and sensible ways,

Ubisoft was founded in 1986. The company is currently fighting to preserve its independence, as media conglomerate Vivendi–which formerly owned Activision Blizzard–buys more and more shares.
