When Motorola launched its flagship smartphone Moto Z instead of Moto X, it was believed that the Moto X lineup is dead even though the Lenovo-owned company said that the X series was “alive and well”. Now, a fresh development suggests that a new Moto X smartphone is in the works.
A recent smartphone photograph leak shows a forthcoming smartphone from Motorola, which is allegedly Moto X 2017. The photos shared on Slashleaks shows a device with design similar to the Moto Z.
However, it is sure that the phone is not a Moto Z variant as there are no additional pins at the back for attaching Mods. And Lenovo has already made its clear that Moto Mods will remain consistent with the Moto Z series.
In fact, the phone seems to be a hybrid of two Motorola devices — Moto M and Moto Z. It has the metal build which we saw with the Moto M smartphone, while the camera setup and fingerprint scanner are similar to Moto Z.
Since Moto Z has already taken the spot of flagship smartphone for Motorola, we are not expecting the specifications of this Moto X 2017 smartphone to be top–of-the-line. However, we expect decent specs that would set this smartphone somewhere between the mid-range and premium segment.
But, keep in mind that nothing has been made official yet. Even we are not sure what the device will be called once it gets launched. As the name suggests “Moto X 2017,” we are not expecting the smartphone to launch anytime soon. But, with photos already leaked online, we’ll soon have more information about the phone.
