Google, pixel

Google recently announced its new lineup of flagship smartphones — Pixel and Pixel XL. Going by the promises it made earlier, it didn’t delay the launch of new devices in India. The phones are now available in India for pre-order via Flipkart. However, it appears as if only certain variants will be made available at this point of time. Google has also partnered up with HTC and Redington for sales and after sales support for the Pixel in India.

The Google Pixel is only available in the Quite Black color option, while the Pixel XL is only available in 128GB storage with Quite Black color. It is not surprising that Really Blue color is not available in India, as it was not supposed to launch here. But it seems as if ‘Very Silver’ won’t be an option here either — at least for now. Also, the 32GB version of Google Pixel XL has not been listed on the website.

Flipkart is offering discounts and a bunch of special offers to its customers, such as the No Cost EMI and smartphone exchanges of up to Rs. 27,000 to ease the purchase. Also, the first 1,000 customers who pre-order the phone will get a chance to win a gift voucher worth 10% of the phone’s value.

To remind you of the specifications, the Pixel houses a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, while the Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch, 2K resolution AMOLED display. Both phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The Pixel series runs on 4 GB of RAM and is available in two storage capacities – 32GB and 128 GB.

As of the camera, the company claims that the phone has the world’s best smartphone camera. It comes with multiple enhancements, including HDR+ mode, larger pixel size on sensor, and an f/2.0, 6-element lens. The phone runs the newest Android operating system, Android 7.1 Nougat. It will get software and security updates directly from Google.

Along with built-in Google Assistant, the devices come with Pixel imprint, a robust battery backup and unlimited cloud storage space to store all your videos and photos. The phones will also come with a bunch of add ons, including Daydream VR-compatibility, Google Duo and more.
