An idea can solve a real life problem, social issue or any other aspect, with this ideology an event Megathon is being hosted jointly by E-Cell, IIT-Hyderabad and E-Cell, IIIT-Hyderabad. The 24-hour hackathon for aspiring student entrepreneurs in Hyderabad is scheduled on 17th September at IIT-Hyderabad.
The themes for the event comprise smart cities, innovation in education, bots, customer utilities. A smart city is an urban development vision to integrate multiple information and communication technology (ICT) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The event focuses to develop a smart solution for better health care, education, banking and transaction system and urban infrastructure.
The theme innovation in education would aim in improving the education systems around the globe to do more than increase resources to engage the children excluded because of location, gender, disability, ethnic origin, violence or natural disaster.
Solving basic day to day problems which people face like bill splitting system for roommates, tools for event management or unified platform for electric bills are all part of customer utility.
Teams will work on a business model canvas and a prototype in the event. Each team will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through the whole process. The event will be witness speakers including Ramesh Loganathan (VP product at Progress), Nitin Padmawar (Co-Founder and CTO , MartJack), Suresh Challa (President , TiE Hyderabad).
The speakers will be addressing the audience about startups, entrepreneurship and benefits of business. Every team will get exactly one minute for an initial pitch on the basis of which the domain expert mentors will be assigned. Teams will start working on their ideas and business model canvas along with a prototype during these 24 hours. Finally, each team will present their idea to the investors who then, will announce the winners, and good ideas may even fetch investment and cash prizes with lots of goodies.
