We’re now officially in the most exciting time of the year– the quarter where most flagships ranging from Apple to Samsung to Nexus — all get unveiled. To start the parade off, LG announced on Monday that its next flagship will be called the V20 and it will be the world’s first smartphone to ship Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

The V20 is the successor to LG’s previous device, the V10 which was especially known for its novel design and a small secondary display for multitasking.

We didn’t get quite a lot of info from the South Korean electronics manufacturer though. The V20 is apparently built over the frame of last year’s V10, which is actually something to look forward to. The only other tease that LG’s giving us is that the device will be tuned to take advantage of many of the best features of Nougat, including Vulkan-supported graphics for more immersive gaming while also delivering better battery performance with Doze.

We will also get Direct Play that allows users to respond quickly to text messages or update tasks using the notification interface.

Since the advent of Android smartphones years ago, LG has always been loyal to the operating system. The company has built its fair share of Nexus devices too, in the form of the Nexus 4 in 2012, the Nexus 5 in 2013 and the Nexus 5X last year. The company has also collaborated with Google in projects like the  LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, the world’s first and only Android Wear smartwatch with cellular-based connectivity

We are excited to offer the first phone in the world to feature the new Nougat OS, right out of the box.

said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company.

The LG V20 upgrades and extends its predecessor’s cutting-edge multimedia features a step further, providing distinctive mobile experience and sets a new standard for premium phones for consumers.

For now, that’s the only data we have on the next LG flagship smartphone, but we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
